Speaking and Living from Your Inheritance in Christ

**LIVING IN THE SPIRIT**

Words are one of the mediums through which the enemy attacks the believer, but words are also one of the means through which the believer exercises his authority and defends his faith.

The Bible calls the Word of God "the sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17). This means spiritual warfare involves words. The enemy speaks, circumstances speak, people may speak—but the believer must also speak what God has said.

Isaiah 54:17 declares that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. Notice the responsibility placed on the believer: we do not silence the enemy's accusations by staying silent. We answer them with the truth of God's Word.

## Speak Your Inheritance

Your inheritance in Christ must not remain merely a doctrine you believe intellectually. You must know it, meditate upon it, speak it, and live from it.

Someone once asked, "How do I make the blessing manifest in my life?" The answer is simple: speak the blessing over your life. Speak it morning, afternoon, and evening. Let your words continually agree with what God has accomplished for you in Christ.

But there is something deeper than repetition. As you speak the blessing, you must develop an understanding and consciousness of the lifestyle of one who is already blessed in Christ. Many believers fail to develop this consciousness simply because they don't speak it consistently—only reaching for it during prayer, church, or crisis. But the blessing isn't reserved for prayer time. It's an inheritance already received in Christ. Your confession, then, should be a reflection of your identity.

## Understanding Must Come Before Effective Confession

You cannot effectively speak what you do not understand. Your words become powerful expressions of faith when rooted in revelation.

If you understand what it means to be blessed in Christ, "I am blessed" stops being a religious phrase. You begin to think, speak, and decide as one who is blessed. Your actions demonstrate faith in what Christ has already accomplished—you are not acting *in order to become* blessed; you act *because you already are*.

This distinction matters. Faith does not manufacture an inheritance God has already given—faith responds to what God has already done. As you walk in the Spirit, you grow increasingly sensitive to His wisdom and direction, knowing what to do and, just as important, what not to do.

## You Cannot Bless and Curse with the Same Mouth

James 3:10 reminds us that blessing and cursing should not proceed from the same mouth. Your mouth should agree with your inheritance.

When you wake, speak the blessing over everything that concerns you—your life, family, work, relationships, future. Don't let fear, bitterness, unbelief, or others' negative words become the dominant voice governing your life.

Psalm 37:30 says the mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, because the law of God is in his heart. What fills your heart eventually finds expression through your mouth. Fill your heart with the Word.

## Protection from the Strife of Tongues

Isaiah 54:17 declares protection from the accusations spoken against you. Isaiah 8:9–10 paints a vivid picture: people may take counsel together, devise plans, and speak against you—but it will not stand, "for God is with us." This is not license to speak presumptuously against others; it is a declaration of confidence in God's presence and authority. Their words do not carry final authority over your life. God has the final word—and because He is with you, you can answer every contrary word with the truth of His Word.

## Keep the Word in Your Heart

The key is not occasional Scripture-speaking, but keeping the Word in your heart—meditating on it, speaking it repeatedly, letting it shape your thinking, and then living accordingly. Joshua 1:8 gives the pattern: meditation produces speech, and speech produces obedience. The Word moves from the page into your heart, from your heart into your mouth, and from your mouth into your conduct. This is how revelation becomes reality.

You don't speak the blessing merely because you want to experience it—you speak it because you've discovered you are already blessed in Christ. Your confession isn't an attempt to persuade God to bless you; it is your agreement with what He has already accomplished through Christ.

So when you rise in the morning: remember your inheritance. Think the blessing. Speak the blessing. Walk in the blessing. Make decisions from the consciousness that you are already blessed in Christ.

What God has said about you must become the dominant voice in your consciousness.
