**The Great Purpose of God and Our Place in It**

Living in the Spirit :
God is not working aimlessly in history. He has an eternal purpose conceived before the foundation of the world, and everything He does moves toward its fulfillment.
Paul describes this purpose in Ephesians:
*"Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him"* (Ephesians 1:9-10).
This is God's grand plan: to unite, reconcile, and gather all things in Christ. His ultimate objective is not earthly achievement or human ambition — it is Christ Himself. He is bringing all things under the lordship of Christ and reconciling creation back to Himself.
Paul expresses the same truth in Colossians:
*"And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven"* (Colossians 1:20).
Through the blood of Jesus, God is carrying out His eternal plan of reconciliation. Everything else is temporary. This purpose is eternal.
**Every Believer Has a Place in God's Plan**
No believer is saved merely to exist. Every member of the Body of Christ has been given a function within God's redemptive plan.
Some are called to preach. Some to teach. Some to disciple. Some to give. Some to serve. Some are called to influence society through their vocation while advancing the Kingdom of God. The assignments differ, but the ultimate purpose is the same: the advancement of God's redemptive plan in Christ.
This is why discovering divine purpose is not optional — it is a matter of stewardship. Every believer must know their purpose, acknowledge it, embrace it, and walk faithfully in it. A believer who does not understand their place in God's plan is like a soldier on a battlefield who does not know his assignment.
**Prosperity Is Connected to Purpose**
Many believers pursue prosperity while neglecting purpose. They seek God's blessing but give little thought to the reason He blesses.
This is contrary to the pattern we see throughout Scripture. God blessed Abraham because He had a purpose for Abraham. The blessing was never the goal — the purpose was. The blessing was the empowerment to accomplish the purpose.
True prosperity, therefore, is connected to divine purpose. A man may possess great wealth and yet be completely outside God's will. Another may have fewer earthly possessions and yet be walking in the center of God's purpose, enjoying His favor, peace, provision, and empowerment. Where God gives an assignment, He provides the grace, wisdom, gifts, opportunities, relationships, and resources needed to fulfill it. The empowerment of God follows the purpose of God.
Many believers struggle unnecessarily because they are pursuing what God never assigned to them while neglecting what He actually called them to do. Our greatest prosperity is found in discovering and fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.
**The Danger of Distraction**
One of the enemy's greatest strategies is distraction. If Satan cannot destroy a believer, he will attempt to distract one. He knows that a believer walking in divine purpose becomes effective in advancing God's Kingdom. So he seeks to occupy believers with lesser pursuits, endless activities, worldly ambitions, and temporary concerns until they lose sight of what truly matters.
Many believers have become so consumed with careers, business ventures, social status, and material pursuits that they no longer give serious attention to God's purpose for their lives. The tragedy is not always open rebellion against God — often it is simply being distracted from what matters most. A person can spend decades being busy and yet never fulfill the reason God called them. A distracted believer may remain active while becoming ineffective.
**The Urgency of Discovering Divine Purpose**
Paul declares that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand for us to walk in. God did not save us to merely attend church, accumulate possessions, or pursue personal ambitions. He saved us to participate in His eternal purpose in Christ.
Every believer should therefore regularly ask: *Lord, what is my place in Your redemptive plan? How have You gifted me to serve Your purpose? What good works have You prepared for me to walk in? How can I advance Your Kingdom in my generation?*
These are not secondary questions. They are among the most important a believer can ever ask.
**Conclusion**
God's great purpose is clear: to unite all things in Christ and reconcile all things to Himself through the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:9-10; Colossians 1:20). This purpose is the center of history, the heart of redemption, and the focus of heaven.
Every believer has a unique place within this grand design. The blessing of God is not given for personal comfort alone — it is the divine empowerment to fulfill divine purpose. The enemy seeks to distract believers from that purpose, knowing that a distracted believer is often an ineffective one.
Therefore, every child of God must diligently seek to know, embrace, and walk in the purpose God has prepared for them. There is no greater success than fulfilling God's purpose, no greater prosperity than walking in God's assignment, and no greater privilege than participating in His eternal plan to gather all things together in Christ.
